THE Land Transportation Office (LTO) has launched legal proceedings against a motorcycle rider who struck an agency enforcer while attempting to flee after being flagged down for a road safety violation. The incident occurred along Marcos Highway in Barangay Inarawan, Antipolo City.
LTO Chief, Assistant Secretary Atty. Vigor D. Mendoza said he already tasked the LTO-CALABARZON headed by Regional Director Elmer Decena to give him regular updates on the progress of both criminal and administrative cases involving motorcycle rider Roger Ymas.
“Kasama sa itinuturo bilang requirement sa pagkuha ng lisensya ay ang respeto sa mga nagpapatupad ng batas. Maliwanag na pambabastos ang ginawa ng rider na ito kaya talagang tututukan ko ang kasong ito para matiyak na maturuan siya ng leksyon,” said Asec Mendoza.
In a report submitted by RD Decena, it said the incident happened at around 10:00 A.M. in front of the St. Anthony Parish Church of the Marcos Highway where the rider was flagged down by LTO enforcers after he was seen not wearing a helmet.
But instead of stopping, Ymas tried to evade the traffic enforcer and on his attempt to make a fast U-turn, he hit the LTO enforcer which caused him to crash. He was later arrested.
Ymas was taken to the local police station along with his motorcycle.
In the updated report, Ymas was already charged with violation of Republic Act (RA) 4136 Resistance and Disobedience to Person in Authority and Section 11 of RA 9165 after he yielded suspected illegal drugs.
The content of the plastic sachets seized from him were later confirmed to be shabu.
