TYPHOON CARINA RELIEF OPERATIONS — Speaker Ferdinand Martin G. Romualdez, with Tingog Partylist Reps. Yedda Marie K. Romualdez and Jude Acidre, in coordination with San Juan Lone District Rep. Ysabel Zamora, Vice Mayor Jose Angelo Rafael Agcaoili and members of the City Council, leads the distribution of relief packs to 3,000 typhoon Carina victims at the San Juan City Gym Thursday afternoon. Speaker Romualdez also announced that each beneficiary will receive P5,000 pesos each next week under the Ayuda Para sa Kapos ang Kita Program (AKAP).
SPEAKER Ferdinand Martin G. Romualdez, in close coordination with Tingog Partylist, on Thursday led relief operations distributing relief packs and financial aid to thousands of evacuees in several parts of Metro Manila affected by floods brought about by Typhoon Carina and the southwest monsoon.
Speaker Romualdez said they hit the ground running in distributing relief goods to evacuees citing their experience during Typhoon Yolanda that destroyed almost everything in its path over 10 years ago.
“Personal naming karanasan matapos ang Bagyong Yolanda sa Leyte, mas maraming kailangang gawin ang gobyerno sa pagbalik ng mga evacuees sa kanilang mga bahay. Hindi lamang mga imprastruktura ang kailangan nating itayong muli. Kailangang maibalik ang tiwala ng ating mga kababayan sa kakayahan nilang makabangon muli,” Speaker Romualdez declared.
A total of 7,000 families, or nearly 30,000 individuals, received relief packs consisting of 3 kilos of rice, canned goods, coffee and other items, as well as P5,000 in financial aid under the Ayuda sa Kapos ang Kita Program (AKAP) of the DSWD as facilitated by the Office of the Speaker.
“We have initiated the distribution of relief packs since yesterday to ensure that affected citizens receive the essential supplies they need during this challenging time. Malaki ang pinsalang dala ng Bagyong Carina kasabay ng Habagat. Kailangan ang tulong nating lahat para makabangon sa trahedyang ito,” Speaker Romualdez said, referring to the relief operations conducted by his office and Tingog Reps. Yedda K. Romualdez and Jude Acidre.
“Mahalaga ang tulong ng bawat isa sa atin. Ngayon kailangan ang bayanihan. Bawat kamay na tutulong, malaking kontribusyon sa pagbangon. Ang aming pagsisikap ay bahagi ng mas malaking relief operations na isinasagawa ng administrasyon ni Pangulong Ferdinand ‘Bongbong’ Marcos Jr.,” the leader of the 300-plus-strong House of Representatives added.
Speaker Romualdez said the President has been actively monitoring the situation, ensuring relief operations are conducted efficiently and effectively in times of calamity, as well as members of the House of Representatives.
“Nasa ground ang ating mga congressmen para sa disaster response. Regular silang nagpapadala ng report sa akin kung ano ang kailangang tulong ng kanilang mga constituents. Handa ang House of Representatives na tumulong hindi lamang sa disaster response kundi maging sa pagbangon ng mga komunidad,” he stated.
For Thursday, Speaker Romualdez visited 3,000 affected families at the San Juan City Gym, distributing relief packs to each of the families.
and P5,000 in AKAP aid, which will be given next week as facilitated by the Office of the Speaker.
