US Ambassador to the Philippines MaryKay Carlson accompanies President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr., First Lady Liza Araneta Marcos, and members of the Philippine delegation that include Speaker Ferdinand Martin G. Romualdez and AFP Chief of Staff Gen. Romeo Brawner Jr. on board a VIP barge for a tour around Ford Island. They are en route to the USS Arizona Memorial at Pearl Harbor in Honolulu, Hawaii on Sunday (Hawaii time) where President Marcos offered a wreath at the memorial marking the resting place of 1,102 of the 1,177 sailors and Marines killed on USS Arizona during the attack on Pearl Harbor on Dec. 7, 1941. They are welcomed by Adm. John C. Aquilino, 26th Commanding General, United States Indo-Pacific Command.
