THE Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) and Philippine National Police (PNP) have arrested three illegal recruiters demanding Php 350,000 each from enlistment applicants in Manila at around 8:35PM yesterday, 01 April 2025.
The three suspects included a retired Philippine Marine Corps (PMC) officer with the rank of Major identified as Mr. Marcel Mudjilun, together with Ms. Bolkisah Datu-Dacula and Mr. Abdul Jalil Datu-Dacula Bantuas.
According to the Coast Guard Human Resource Management Command (CGHRMC) Counter Intel Operatives, the three illegal recruiters were apprehended after receiving a complaint from two PCG enlistment applicants.
“The applicants reported the suspects following their demand for Php350,000 each in exchange for their assured entry in the PCG,” the CGHRMC Counter Intel Operatives emphasized.
“The three illegal recruiters are under the custody of the PNP-Criminal Investigation and Detection Group-Regional Field Unit NCR for booking procedures and subsequent filing of criminal charges of two counts of qualified estafa,” the unit furthered.
The Coast Guard Intelligence Force (CGIF), and Coast Guard Inspector General and Internal Affairs Service\ (CGIG)-National Capital Region-Central Luzon (NCR-CL) also augmented the joint entrapment operation.
PCG Commandant, Admiral Ronnie Gil L Gavan PCG, directs all PCG units to strictly monitor and address reports on illegal recruitment nationwide.
Admiral Gavan continues to remind aspiring PCG applicants that the Coast Guard recruitment is only done within the PCG premises, and no fees are required during the application.
According to the CGHRMC, the operation highlighted the PCG’s firm stance against illegal recruitment and its commitment to ensuring a fair and transparent enlistment process.
“Only the PCG and CGHRMC official Facebook pages are authorized to disseminate updates on the nationwide recruitment,” the Command noted.
