BRIG. Gen. Benjamin Silo Jr. is the new police director of the Police Regional Office 11 following the re-assignment of Brig. Gen. Filmore Escobal to the Area Police Command in Eastern Mindanao.
Escobal relinquished his duties and responsibilities to Silo as the new PRO 11 director during the turnover of command ceremony held at the PRO 11 Pulis Bagani Hall in Buhangin, Davao City.
The event was officiated by the guest of honor and speaker Deputy Chief PNP for Operations Lt. Gen. Rhodel Sermonia.
Silo, who was born in Galas, Quezon City and hails from Balanga Bataan, took his Master’s Degree in Public Administration at the Ateneo de Davao University and the Philippine Christian University.
He took his Bachelor of Laws at the Arellano University and graduated in 2006. He passed the Bar exam in 2007.
Silo is an exemplary PNP personnel who climbed the ladder of success by starting his PNP career as a direct commissioned officer to his most anticipated star-rank of Police Brigadier General.
As his outstanding performance mold his true competency in the PNP service, his excellent leadership was highlighted during his stint as Provincial Director of Bataan Police Provincial Office in 2016 when he made Bataan the first declared “drug-cleared” province in the entire country, which is three months ahead of the President’s targeted date.
In his speech, Silo stressed the importance of courtesy and basic skills like investigation among the PNP members as he affirmed the PRO 11’s support to the government’s NTF-ELCAC and showed appreciation to the Revitalized-Pulis sa Barangay Program initiated by Escobal.
He reminded the men and women of the PRO 11 on the mandate of PNP chief Gen. Dionardo Carlos not to engage in online “sabong” and other illegal activities.
“The basic principle of leadership, especially in this kind of vocation, is to continue whatever projects, programs, activities that will help improve the police service here in PRO 11. It is my obligation to further improve and innovate it. In the end, the people in our jurisdiction and the taxpayers will be the ones enjoying the quality of police service being extended by PRO 11,” Silo said.
