THE Department of Health (DOH) Ilocos Region deployed 23 teams from August 10 to 21, 2026, to strengthen the Measles-Rubella Supplemental Immunization Activity (MR-SIA) 2026.
The initiative aims to support local health workers in immunizing children aged 6 to 59 months, focusing on hard-to-reach and flood-affected communities.
Each five-member team includes doctors, nurses, medical technologists, and health program officers providing vaccination, field supervision, and technical assistance.
The deployment supports the region’s goal to vaccinate at least 95 percent of its 444,512 eligible children.
“Our objective is clear: to reach as many eligible children as possible and ensure they receive the protection they need against measles and rubella despite the weather condition” said Regional Director Helen D. Tobias.
DOH Ilocos Region urges parents and caregivers of children aged 6–59 months to visit designated vaccination sites or coordinate with their local health offices and barangay health workers.
